Reflections of her – Intimacy and literature

Carline Bourdelas' photographic work delicately and poetically explores the states of the human soul. Through her images, she tackles themes such as loneliness, silence, childhood and femininity with great sensitivity.
Based in Deauville, she draws inspiration from Françoise Sagan's Bonjour Tristesse, a novel emblematic of a free, melancholic and lucid youth. Her photographs capture this floating atmosphere, this imperceptible passage between innocence and a form of disenchanted consciousness.
Light is omnipresent, but far from dazzling, it envelops the scenes in a summer torpor, echoing Sagan's words: ‘The heat made me feel limp, indifferent to everything.’

French photographer born in 1966 in Khemis (Algeria) and raised in Orléans, Carline Bourdelas lives and works in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Her work, combining poetic staging and superimposed images, explores themes such as loneliness, childhood and femininity, while seeking to rewrite personal stories. Inspired by fairy tales, the Renaissance and cinema, she is fascinated by the magic of the photographed moment, frozen in time. She has exhibited at the Planches Contact 2023 festival and Photo Days (Paris), among others.
