Like a silk flower, lace is born

Amélie Chassary explores the subtle links between nature and traditional craftsmanship. Inspired by the motifs of Norman lace—flowers, scrolls, foliage—she roams the landscapes that gave birth to these creations.
Between photographed still lifes, floral compositions and pictorial interventions, her images are constructed like a woven pattern: with meticulousness, silence and a deep attention to life.
By enriching her prints with pictorial touches, she extends the gesture of the lace makers she celebrates, revealing the sensitive correspondences between plant textures and textile lace. A poetic quest that creates a dialogue between a living heritage and its environment.

French photographer born in 1980 in Corrèze, Amélie Chassary lives in Gaillac. Between photography and painting, she develops a poetically and ecologically engaged body of work, where plant compositions and landscapes are conceived as paintings. Her contemplative gaze is exhibited in France and abroad. She is represented by the Amélie du Chalard gallery and the Regard Suspendu agency.
