The Architecture of Emotions – Graphic Intimacy

Renato D’Agostin has developed a unique approach to photography based on the very substance of the image: its grain, texture and density. Each print thus becomes a sensitive object, conveying an intimate narrative.
In residence in Deauville, he has created an album of personal memories, an inner journey in search of a lost love. The photographs unfold like fragments of a romantic flashback, a succession of sensitive, evanescent details.
But this story, although deeply personal, becomes universal. Deauville, an iconic city of cinema, provides the timeless backdrop. The artist's romantic memories are replayed like a forgotten scene from a black-and-white film, suspended between melancholy and reminiscence.

Renato D'Agostin is an Italian photographer born in Venice in 1983. He has lived and worked there since 2018, after spending 13 years in New York, where he assisted photographer Ralph Gibson, among others. A true master printer, he has developed a personal language in black and white, dislocating his subjects to explore the relationship between humans and architecture. Represented by the Bigaignon Gallery (Paris), his work has been exhibited worldwide and is included in major collections such as the MEP (Paris), the ICP (New York) and the LACMA (Los Angeles).
