The sun always sets in the west.

Anna Malagrida turns its gaze on a city long shaped by the eyes of photographers and filmmakers. Its locations, imbued with visual memory, seem to be part of a collective imagination, like the silent sets of a film or the scenes of a painting.

A conceptual and experimental artist, Malagrida explores the boundaries between photography and video, between urban space and landscape. She questions fundamental oppositions — interior/exterior, light/darkness, transparency/opacity — to better reveal areas of ambiguity.

In Deauville, she makes the passage of time visible through the movement of the sun and its reflections on the Planches. Her photographs and short films capture the invisible, everyday gestures of beach workers.

Spanish photographer and videographer born in 1970 in Barcelona, Anna Malagrida lives and works in Paris. Working around the dialectic of the frame, she questions urban and natural space, highlighting the tension between interior and exterior. Her work explores the dialogue between spaces and those who inhabit or pass through them. Represented by the RX Gallery (Paris), her works are part of prestigious collections, such as the Centre Pompidou, the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona and the Kawasaki City Museum.
