Facing New York – Coney Island<\/em><\/strong>
Planches Contact met \u00e0 l\u2019honneur le grand photographe new-yorkais de l\u2019agence Magnum Photos, Bruce Gilden, <\/strong>encore tr\u00e8s peu expos\u00e9 en France. Alors qu\u2019au Point de Vue, il pr\u00e9sente un travail r\u00e9alis\u00e9 cette ann\u00e9e en r\u00e9sidence en Normandie autour des jeunes agriculteurs, cette exposition est l\u2019occasion de revenir sur l\u2019\u0153uvre de ce ma\u00eetre de la photographie de rue, reconnu pour son regard frontal, brut et sans concession.
Pour cette grande exposition r\u00e9trospective sur la plage de Deauville,<\/a> nous revenons sur son New York des ann\u00e9es 1970 \u00e0 1980. Ces ann\u00e9es ont forg\u00e9 son \u00e9criture ac\u00e9r\u00e9e, mais encore empreint d\u2019une certaine tendresse nostalgique de ces ann\u00e9es-l\u00e0. Avec son objectif au plus pr\u00e8s des visages et son art du cadrage vertical, Bruce Gilden dresse un portrait cru et saisissant de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 new-yorkaise. La faune de cette ville et de sa plage embl\u00e9matique de Coney Island investira la plage de Deauville en grands formats imposants avec une quarantaine d\u2019images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G\u00e9n\u00e9ration X\u2009: la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration inconnue.<\/a><\/strong>
En 1951, Robert Capa lance l\u2019un des premiers grands projets collectifs de Magnum\u2009: onze photographes \u2014 dont Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour, Werner Bischof et Eve Arnold \u2014 se dispersent dans quatorze pays sur cinq continents pour r\u00e9aliser le portrait de la jeunesse de l\u2019apr\u00e8s-guerre. Le fil conducteur du projet est un questionnaire unique sur le quotidien, les r\u00eaves et les peurs des jeunes de 20\u201325 ans, ils cherchent \u00e0 r\u00e9v\u00e9ler ce que des contextes culturels radicalement diff\u00e9rents peuvent avoir en commun. Capa baptise cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, n\u00e9e dans l\u2019ombre de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, G\u00e9n\u00e9ration X\u2009: la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration inconnue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G\u00e9n\u00e9ration Z<\/strong>
Dans la continuit\u00e9 de ce projet lanc\u00e9 par les fondateurs de Magnum, Planches Contact Festival invite deux photographes de l\u2019agence Magnum en Normandie \u00e0 travailler sur la G\u00e9n\u00e9ration Z\u2009: <\/strong>Bruce Gilden,<\/strong> avec un travail sur les jeunes agriculteurs<\/a> ; et Cristina de Middel,<\/strong> avec une s\u00e9rie sur les jeunes issus des villages du Cotentin.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
