Created in 2010, the Deauville Photography Festival, Planches Contact, invites established and emerging photographers to take up creative residencies each year, enabling them to look at the region and develop their projects in and around Normandy.

Planches Contact has always given pride of place to emerging artists and new generations of photographers through its Tremplin Jeunes Talents (Young Talent Springboard) programme, a scheme that each year welcomes five photographers at the start of their careers, selected by a jury of image professionals, to take up residencies.

During their residency, the photographers receive logistical, editorial and artistic support from the festival team. They also benefit from the simultaneous presence of photographers invited by the festival, as well as advice and support from the artistic director.

The Tremplin Jeunes Talents is supported by the Festival InCadaqués and Fnac

Candidates are selected on the basis of their portfolio. An outline of the project, a portfolio of previous work and a C.V. make up the application file to be submitted to the Planches Contact jury.

The five selected photographers will receive a grant of €5,000 towards the production of the series to be exhibited in autumn 2024. Travel and accommodation costs are covered by the festival.

At the end of the exhibitions, a selection of five images per photographer will join the collections of the Franciscaines and the City of Deauville.

Meeting in Deauville, the Planches Contact jury will award the Tremplin Jeunes Talents prize during the inaugural weekend, from 25 to 27 October 2024.

Since 2024, the prize, in partnership with the InCadaqués Festival, has been a creative residency in Cadaqués.

The partnership with Fnac, which supports this programme of support for young artists, will enable the five selected photographers and the winner to be exhibited in the Fnac Ternes photo galleries in Paris and the Fnac Lyon Bellecour gallery after the festival, in early 2025.

The call for entries is open to photographers at the start of their careers or students, with an individual or collective project. The only rule is that you must never have had a solo exhibition or publication.

Participation is free and open to all photographers, with no obligation to have completed a course of study or to provide letters of recommendation.

The names of the selected photographers will be announced in February 2024.
